The new Giulia GTA and GTAm were introduced in 2020 to pay to tribute to one of the most legendary cars in the Italian brand’s history, the 1965 Giulia Sprint GTA.

They were produced on a limited run of 500 examples in total worldwide and were available in three spectacular paint colours: Etna Red, Montreal Green and Trofeo White. Customers could also choose from a range of special liveries that take inspiration from some of the GTA’s most prestigious victories, including the yellow nose that distinguished the 1971 European Touring Car Championship (ETCC) winning car.

Alfa Romeo called upon the technical expertise of their Formula 1 partners, Sauber Engineering, to transform the Giulia line’s aerodynamics and create a rigid and lightened chassis. New dampers, springs and firmer bushes were added, alongside a 50 mm wider track. Like the GTA version, the GTAm uses the Quadrifoglio’s eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox matched with a carbon prop shaft and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. The 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine is also carried over from the Quadrifoglio but delivers a further 30bhp, reaching 533bhp.

The GTAm weighs in at 1,580kg with a half roll cage in place of rear seats, polycarbonate rear windows and carbon-fibre front and rear splitters, rear wheel arch extensions and bucket seats. The interior includes Sabelt six-point race harnesses for both the driver and passenger, a leather steering wheel and a fire extinguisher behind the seats. The dashboard, door panels, glove compartment, side pillars and the central trim on the seats feature alcantara upholstery. The GTAm rides on 20-inch alloys with a centre lock wheel nut, seen for the first time on a saloon, and are paired with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

An increase in downforce is achieved by a carbon-fibre diffuser with an integrated twin-pipe titanium Akrapovič exhaust, and a new adjustable carbon wing, extendable for track use by up to 40mm. The most intense aerodynamic configuration triples the amount of downforce compared to the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

This car was registered in March 2022 and has completed 4,200 miles from new.

The Etna Red exterior is matched with the interior stitching, Sabelt six-point race belts, door pull loops and roll cage all in red from new. Its 20-inch alloys have been painted Pearl Gold to match the original Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. An additional, new set of original 20-inch wheels in black with new tyres are available by separate negotiation.

The car has been fully covered in a Premium Shield PPF, from new, applied by Ultimate Automotive Ltd.
